Controlling your thinking is key to achieving tranquillity and prosperity in terms of self-awareness. Not only will unwanted thoughts cease to appear, but you will also waste less time each day. And what else? Of course—your awareness will increase significantly! By training your mind, you will perceive yourself and your surroundings in a completely new way. Moreover, a person who is in control of their mind tends to perform better—whether in sports or at work.


Ways to Achieve Serenity

Personally, I began my journey with meditation. Just 5–10 minutes a day can already be enough. Simply concentrate on your breathing, and if an unwanted thought slips into your mind, try to regain your focus and rhythm.
Another proven method is to analyse your bad habits. Identify the unhelpful patterns in your daily routines and replace them with better ones.

Furthermore, go through life with a smile; don’t take everything too seriously. If you’re having a bad day, try to recognize how unimportant many of your problems truly are in the long run. As a certain Roman emperor once said:

“Mere things, brute facts, should not provoke your rage: they have no mind to care.”


Shape Your Mindset

When sharpening your mind, self-confidence and a powerful mindset are likely outcomes. Take sports, for example: in tennis, when someone is behind 0:6, 0:5, a self-confident player will say to themselves, “I can and will do everything to win this match.”
Apply this way of thinking to every aspect of life. Confidence is one of the most important virtues you can have. And don’t forget—always believe in yourself.

One of the most interesting books I have ever read is Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. The book consists mostly of reflections and Stoic teachings, yet they are so meaningful that they may keep you awake at night thinking.
