  • Meat means murderer?
    Daily writing prompt
What are your feelings about eating meat?

The question of whether eating meat makes someone “inferior” misses the deeper truth: humans have always relied on animals for survival, and our relationship with meat is rooted in biology, culture, and history.

Humans have always been a hunter folk. Animals have always been prey to us because we depended on their meat to survive. However, “Times they are a-changin’,” as Bob Dylan once described so perfectly. Nowadays we don’t necessarily need to eat meat in order to survive. Nevertheless, quality meat has incredible nutritional value, which we can hardly find in a plant-based diet. Thus, I think the incorporation of meat in our diets is very important, especially for children.

I would define my own meat consumption as above average. But as a 90-kg male who practices sports every day, my meals must regularly include beef, pork, or chicken. These are great—if not the best—sources of natural protein, healthy fats, minerals, as well as vitamins. Of course, I’m aware of the fact that vegetarian dishes can have similar nutritional value. That is why I try to eat meat only every second day and prepare healthy plant-based dishes as often as I can (e.g., chickpeas, beans, veggies, rice, etc.).

If we kill animals for their meat, it is our duty to use every single part of them. Unfortunately, that is not the case in our society. The seemingly “bad parts,” like organs or cuts with less tender meat, often end up in the trash bin. We need to go back to making bone broth, a delicious cow liver dish, or taking the time to cook stews with the tough parts. In relearning all the great cooking skills and techniques, I believe we can make a difference—for our planet, for the well-being of animals, and for ourselves.

In the end, mindful meat consumption isn’t just about food—it’s about respect, sustainability, and living with greater intention.

  • A Live Lived Offline
    Daily writing prompt
What technology would you be better off without, why?

Peaceful meadows, snow falling, witnessing the sunrise – these moments describe perfectly how every second in our life would be without constant distractions. But unfortunately, technologies have taken hold of every one of us.

I often sit and wonder what would happen if I’d just throw my phone out of my life. Would I be happier? Would I achieve better results? I sincerely think I would, but we depend on using phones daily; we need them for our day-to-day routines, we need them for every damn thing. Even so, cutting screen time has so many benefits.

When I don’t stare at my device all day long, I can concentrate much better and I am in complete possession of every single one of my skills. By conquering my inner demons and spending more time in real life, away from technology, I feel like the heart within me is laughing – with joy! That feeling is what sends me back into the battle, striving to overcome dependency and return to a life lived as it’s meant to be: in harmony with nature.

So let’s step into every new moment with open minds. Let’s try to savor the small things—free from constant distraction, and full of joy.

  • Trusting your instincts

Instincts are something that we have possessed throughout all of human history. They survived millions of years of evolution and still seem to be right.

Just think about animals—how some can even feel an earthquake that’s about to happen. Sensing things like these is a very powerful attribute. Hence, just like in the animal kingdom, we too can anticipate danger or determine whether something is right or wrong. If we reflect, trusting our gut feeling has mostly had a positive outcome. But why then do we tend to overthink every tiny little detail? It surely shouldn’t be that way. Instincts are anchored so deeply in our subconscious because our ancestors completed certain tasks or made various decisions so often that they eventually became automated. They are a precious gift and should be relied upon more often!

So—yes, I fully trust my instincts!

    Do you?

  • The Power of Your Mind

Haven’t you ever thought about the possibilities that arise when you fully control your mind? The power you can gain over yourself and your surroundings is incredible. Read on and discover my thoughts on this extraordinary potential that everyone possesses.

    A Vast Array of Benefits

Controlling your thinking is key to achieving tranquillity and prosperity in terms of self-awareness. Not only will unwanted thoughts cease to appear, but you will also waste less time each day. And what else? Of course—your awareness will increase significantly! By training your mind, you will perceive yourself and your surroundings in a completely new way. Moreover, a person who is in control of their mind tends to perform better—whether in sports or at work.

    Ways to Achieve Serenity

Personally, I began my journey with meditation. Just 5–10 minutes a day can already be enough. Simply concentrate on your breathing, and if an unwanted thought slips into your mind, try to regain your focus and rhythm.
Another proven method is to analyse your bad habits. Identify the unhelpful patterns in your daily routines and replace them with better ones.

Furthermore, go through life with a smile; don’t take everything too seriously. If you’re having a bad day, try to recognize how unimportant many of your problems truly are in the long run. As a certain Roman emperor once said:

“Mere things, brute facts, should not provoke your rage: they have no mind to care.”

    Shape Your Mindset

When sharpening your mind, self-confidence and a powerful mindset are likely outcomes. Take sports, for example: in tennis, when someone is behind 0:6, 0:5, a self-confident player will say to themselves, “I can and will do everything to win this match.”
Apply this way of thinking to every aspect of life. Confidence is one of the most important virtues you can have. And don’t forget—always believe in yourself.

    Book Recommendations

One of the most interesting books I have ever read is Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. The book consists mostly of reflections and Stoic teachings, yet they are so meaningful that they may keep you awake at night thinking.

Another masterpiece is Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill—a timeless classic that outlines the steps necessary to develop a powerful mind and build success.

  • A Song of Ice and Fire – My Thoughts on a Timeless Fantasy Saga

A world of breathtaking stories and characters of unfathomable depth — a world you can completely lose yourself in. A world that has it all.
(This blog may include spoilers! The first paragraph is spoiler-free.)

    The Story

It all begins in the icy North of Westeros, where two old friends reunite. But as certain events unfold, chaos soon follows. Suspicion rises, alliances are forged, and the Game for the Iron Throne begins.

Now danger lurks everywhere as the great houses of Westeros go to war. Not to forget the rise of the seemingly last Targaryen in the East. Beyond the Wall, the dead begin to stir again — driven by ancient powers.

The War of the Five Kings brings bloodshed; winter comes knocking once more, and unexpected events are about to unfold. Who will conquer the Seven Kingdoms in the end?

    The Characters

In my opinion, the way George R. R. Martin writes such a vast number of characters is unmatched in the fantasy world. He truly poured his heart into them.

Take Tyrion Lannister, for example. I know he’s a fan favorite, but he’s just so brilliantly written — cunning, sharp-tongued, a mastermind, and an outcast. In his own unique way, he influences major events — first as Hand of the King, and later when he kills his father, one of the most powerful men in the realm.

Like Tywin, Littlefinger (Petyr Baelish) was also one of the most dangerous men in Westeros. He basically started the war, has no sense of loyalty except to himself, and helped plot Joffrey’s death. Not to forget how he shaped Sansa, scheming to make her Lady of Winterfell and the Vale of Arryn.

There are far too many incredible characters to name them all here, but I have to mention Varys, Jon Snow, Daenerys, and many others who make this saga unforgettable.

My Favourite Parts of the Books

First, the ending of A Game of Thrones, the very first book: Daenerys stepping into the pyre and hatching her dragons. It’s such a jaw-dropping, powerful moment — written so vividly you feel like you’re standing right there.

Then, of course, the Red Wedding — one of the most shocking and pivotal moments in the entire series. While reading, I never expected anything that brutal to happen. My eyes were literally wide open in disbelief the whole time.

One of the most satisfying scenes across all five books was Joffrey’s death — him choking at his own wedding, Cersei in rage and tears, and Sansa finally managing to escape. Pure satisfaction.

And finally, the battle at Castle Black. Jon Snow proves himself to be a capable commander, defeating the massive wildling army with strategic brilliance (and, of course, Stannis’ timely help).

    The Television Series

If you leave out the last season, the TV show is surely one of the greatest of all time. Still, there are aspects I didn’t like as much, or where I preferred the book version.

At times, the show felt a bit rushed, whereas the books explained everything in such beautiful detail. I understand the producers had to cut certain storylines due to time constraints, but some major points were left out — like Varys switching Aegon Targaryen with another baby to save the true heir to the throne.

I also didn’t like that Sansa was married off to Ramsay. It would have made more sense for Littlefinger to keep her in the Vale, considering his love for her.

And then there’s the highly criticized ending. Daenerys going mad did make sense narratively, but perhaps not to that extreme. I also didn’t like Bran becoming king and would have preferred the Night King’s story to last longer — or even end in victory. But let’s see how George R. R. Martin decides to end his masterpiece.

The Wait for the Last Two Books

While it’s frustrating that the final two books are still unpublished, I do believe they’ll be released eventually. Maybe they’re already finished, and Martin is just waiting to build even more anticipation.

One thing is certain: when we finally get them, he’ll surprise us with an unexpected and jaw-dropping ending — one worthy of a fantasy saga like A Song of Ice and Fire.

    Recommendation

I can highly recommend the following product: A Song of Ice and Fire Leather-Bound Collection.
Each book features a beautiful leather cover and includes a different map of the world of Westeros. There’s also a list of the major houses with every current and past member. A true gem for every fan.
